The western tanager is a long-distance migrator. Every year it travels between its wintering grounds in Mexico and Central America to its breeding grounds in western North America. AND they're here in our walnut tree. Ten at last count- so they are making a beautiful May Day display! Thank goodness our government can't build walls to keep them out.
